- Measure yard in square feet. A sod roll is 2′ wide and 5′ long to make a 10 sq.ft. roll. If measuring help is needed, please call and an estimate can be given.
- Minimum top soil depth of 4-6 inches.
- Remove all larger rocks, dirt clods, and debris.
- Soil should be loose and not compacted to allow for easier root growth.
- Be sure grade runs away from house to keep water away from house foundation.
- Leave soil 3/4″ below any concrete areas and sprinkler heads so the dirt/root zone of sod matches up to the correct level.
- Starter fertilizer (high in phosphorus for root growth, the middle number on bag) can be raked into the top 2 inches of soil.
