Sod Installation begins by laying sod rolls on the longest/straightest line that the site provides.
Rolls should be installed tight together without gaps or overlap.
Sod can be cut with any blade or knife, but the tool of choice is a utility knife.
After the first row is installed the second row should be started with a roll that is cut in half in order to offset the end seams. Think of a brick layout for installing sod – less long seams is better.
Rolling of sod is only recommended if the soil of the ground and the bottom of the sod are not making contact.
Watering (deep enough to wet ground a couple inches under the sod) should take place within 30 minutes of installing sod. Sod should stay wet (frequent, low quantity watering) for the next 2 weeks. After that time period the sod will have enough root growth to sustain itself for longer time periods.
